Blurry multitasking previews #93

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open the multitasking tray/app switcher at any time.
2. Observe previews.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The preview images are usually a lot sharper. In JellyTime, they are crystal
clear, and I remember the same level of clarity in Lord's 8.4 ROM (although I
never tried 8.5). It's also clear on my Nexus S, which is also running 4.0.4.
However, once I flashed BR5 (with a full wipe), I've been finding that the
preview images are blurry and it's hard to make out text or pictures.

Here's a screenshot to show what I mean:
http://s16.postimage.org/ocn3wrh9x/Screenshot_2012_08_08_14_56_20.png

In the GMail screenshot, the text is very blurry and in the Play Store and
PlayerPro screenshots, the images are distorted.

What version of aospX are you using? And when did the issue first start?

BR5. I never used BR4, so I wouldn't know.

Have you performed a full wipe/factory reset? (If not, then do so)

Yes.

Inspire4G or DesireHD? (If Inspire, did you flash Inspiremod?)

Inspire 4G. Yes I flashed InspireMod.

Please provide logcat ouput and any additional information below.
(logs required or I will discard the ticket.)

The only logcat output when opening the task switcher is:

I/Adreno200-EGLSUB( 1426): <ConfigWindowMatch:2218>: Format RGBA_8888.
I/Adreno200-EGLSUB( 1224): <CreateImage:1017>: Android Image
I/Adreno200-EGLSUB( 1224): <GetImageAttributes:1226>: RGBA_8888
I/Adreno200-EGLSUB( 1224): <CreateImage:1017>: Android Image

I/Adreno200-EGLSUB( 1224): <GetImageAttributes:1226>: RGBA_8888

Then when I close it:

D/OpenGLRenderer( 1426): Flushing caches (mode 0)
W/InputManagerService( 1352): Window already focused, ignoring focus gain of:

Hm, not sure how to resolve this one.. If possible, ill need to know if it
displayed correctly in any previous build, that would at least give me a
starting point to know where to look. So if anyone is able to test older builds
to let me know if/when it was last showing correctly.

I am using BR4 and my previews are of the same quality as in the screenshot
posted by the reporter. (Never considered quality could be higher as they seeem
scaled)
I dont have access to PC right now and screenshot from within android won't
work as it closes the recent window. Can try and post it later if it would help.

Oh one more thing. I'm not sure whether this is related (although the effects
are very similar) but image and folder previews in Gallery suffer from the same
blurriness issue. But it only happens in the previews for .png images or the
previews for folders that onyl contain .png images. For an example, you could
look in the Screenshots folder. ICS seems to save screenshots as pngs and that
folder is one of the worst to look at.

The previews for .jpg pictures look fine.

I don't know whether this helps. But I suppose if the multitasking switcher
also draws .png previews, you know your problem is with .png drawing in
general.

I can verify this as well, it seems to just be with .png thumbnails (.jpeg is
clear). So this should help track down whats causing it.

Has anyone been able to find an exact version that this started in? (If
possible)...This would help out big time to find what's causing it
