I felt like a teensy bit more could be said about making it clear where to ask questions (and have conversations) about published data. It felt like it was somewhat similar to the Find your peers and talk section, but really it's kind of different.

Cool - I do wonder about what would be the simplest option here. At the moment the text doesn't even suggest a contact email address. Setting up an issue tracker/discussion list/web forum is likely a technical challenge for some IT departments, and the whole 'asking people for feedback' is a very hairy situation on the government front, due to the paperwork reduction act

Yes, an email address is definitely the simplest place to start. A self-hosted or hosted service that makes those conversations visible on the Web (and google-able) is the next. Getting approval to use services like Google Groups, Gtihub etc can be a problem in .gov, but I think you use Amazon S3 in a similar way in the publishing section.

I'm no lawyer, but my understanding is that the Paperwork Reduction Act prevents the federal government from imposing collection burdens on the public without jumping through some hoops first. Having a voluntary communication channel where people could talk about how they are using the data, and ask questions seems pretty different from that -- and important.

Ah looks like the PRA stipulation was freed up in 2k10 http://www.foreffectivegov.org/node/10907

Yeah - I'm eager to find a way to either present more options or point to something less corporate there.
