Likely best to use Python, as there are available libraries and we can expect users of the repo to have python.

Per https://developers.google.com/drive/api/quickstart/python, using the Python API would require setting up a Google Cloud project, which is both inconvenient now and for future users. Will opt for a manual approach for now and revisit this later.
