Herp data in analysis #37

Open cschloss opened 5 years ago

Data came from Amber Wright

Note in data delivery: "summed number of taxa that have predicted climatically suitable habitat within each cell. This likely overestimates actual richness in each cell"

Hi Amber – I’m looking for data to represent patterns of species richness, rarity-weighted richness, or measures of diversity for herps across the state. So I don’t need individual species models. I’ll pursue other options for now. Thanks anyway. Dick

Hi Dick,

The underlying locality data was transferred to CDFW and should be available from their CNDDB database. I don’t think Melanie has the output layers though (which would be consensus across many runs). I would be wary of using output from different projects in a combined analysis. Every study is going to have different methods that impact the interpretation. I’m not opposed to providing the layers, but it would take me a while to get to it. What is your timeline, what species do you want, and what will you be doing with the output?

Best, Amber

Hi Amber - Sorry for not being clear. Yes I’m looking for the model output.

It sounds like the thresholded data that Melanie has would be directly from your runs then. Is that your understanding? I’m assuming you transferred data to CDFW. I’ll follow up with her to investigate. Thanks for the assistance. Dick

Hi Dick,

I’m not sure I understand exactly what you’re asking for. Have you read the report? We used least presence threshold (described on p. 5).

Are you asking for the actual output layers? For all species? It would not be trivial for me to pull those up at this point, I should’ve databased them somewhere back when I made them.

Hi Dr. Wright – I am working on some conservation planning for biodiversity conservation in California and we are assembling relevant datasets. Melanie Gogol-Prokurat at CDFW mentioned that you had done some modeling for herps in CA as part of the species of special concern project.

We’ve assembled SDM for major taxonomic groups but don’t have anything for herps yet. Melanie didn’t have some basic information on the process by which you thresholded the models so I wanted to follow-up with you directly. We are looking for un-thresholded data ideally (probability of occurrence) but we’ll take anything you have that is appropriate to represent potential distribution. Would it be possible to get access to the SDMs? Thanks very much. Dick
