The 8 key is mapped to the X button in PICO-8. This is undocumented.
This means that if you press 8 in the password editor, you will simultaneously press X, which might insert another number as well or move the cursor, depending on what is selected.
Solving this is further complicated by the fact that the X button press is detected one frame after the devkit keyboard detects that the 8 key was pressed, which makes it harder to separate the two.
