qemu not being detected even though qemu is already installed

everytime I go to file > configure I see an error at the bottom of aqemu saying "qemu needs to be installed" even though qemu is installed.

to add detail: I am using linux mint

Mine is detected but shows as version 2.0 (it is version 7.2.9)
