Add flipped classroom lessons #182

Problem: Too little in-class programming.

Action: Add some “flipped classroom” lessons where students are expected to review the material outside of class and then accomplish a programming exercise in-class.

Assessment: Course critiques, student feedback.

Basically any demo I do already is fair game.

Ideas:

Basic math and assembly
Hacking exercises on MSP430 hack site
PWM to control LED brightness or drive a fan
Using interrupts to sense button push / release
Basic button debouncing w/ software delay
Basic GPIO
- Lighting LEDs based on button push
Analog-to-Digital
- Don't really want them to use their robots because that's the lab
- Just get them a photodiode or something

We can replace the dumb rote assembly language lessons with self-paced coding - these are L6 and L7.

That is a great idea - you may want to see what % of cadets can self pace - I notice about 80/20 is the rule [ 20% of students are on autopilot - 80% need hand holding ] so maybe dial in some hand-holding for the 80% -> milestones/etc and let loose the 20% on their own. Just sayin

Thanks for the feedback! I will follow your strategy when I develop the lessons - make sure I have solid step-by-step for some, allow some open-ended stuff for others
