Is it now an official channel? What about Gitter?

Better use Gitter. The community is already using it, so there's no reason to switch. Also, it is being rebuilt on an open Matrix protocol: https://matrix.org/blog/2020/12/07/gitter-now-speaks-matrix For example, one can access the main todo.txt room using any Matrix client: #todotxt_Lobby:gitter.im

For quick chats, you can use Gitter, otherwise use Discussions.
