25% lower hashrate on vega 56/64 cards mining ergo #458

Open FabianRapp opened 2 years ago

FabianRapp commented 2 years ago

Hello My vega 64 cards dropped from about 200 mhs to 150 mhs and my vega 56 from about 180mhs to 140mhs after updating to the latest version. I know there was a fork, but my other GPUs seem to hold the old hash rate. TeamRedMiner was always the only miner that I knew about that had these insane hash rates on vega cards. I hope this is fixable :)

Same here, i'm tweaking my oc for optimize hashrate again but i think this will not enough

Marcell217 commented 2 years ago

its seems that the trm its not taking the amd memory tweaks, taking off and now have 157mh

koksang commented 2 years ago

any updates on this?

JaduHunter commented 2 years ago

same here my vega 56 hynix mem hash drop form 185mhs to 139mhs on same oc setting after updating, any update or any new or any other oc setting do let me know plzz, other polaris card working fine and have same hashrate after updating

JaduHunter commented 2 years ago

and older version of TRM im getting full hashrate but invalid share IDK why :(

JaduHunter commented 2 years ago

@Partttyyy if u find any solution do let me know plzzz

Reggerriee commented 2 years ago

What can I do with vega 56/64 to get back the original hash on ergo coin? Thx for your help!

Same problem here, I'm moving to eth

3mehdi commented 2 years ago

Hi, I have this problem: my vega cards hashrate, after upgrading to teamredminer v0.8.6.3, decreased from 183 to 130 Mh/s. I'm moving to ETH

laser212 commented 2 years ago

Hi guys i have same issue as everyone else. from 190 to 139 id like to know what the reason is for this drop and can it be reversed ? i'm not complaining as team red is still the highest hashrate. im just curious on why my nvidia in nanominer staied same but amd in team red dropped

FabianRapp commented 2 years ago

@youknowguys i dont know a fix

Wacholek commented 2 years ago

First of all read the description of the release: "...due to larger pads breaking some previous optimizations. More optimizations to come in future releases". I believe that Team Red Miner "had" some unique optimizations implemented for Vega 56/64. This is why the hashrate was so high and outperform any other miner by almost 50%. Do not know about Radon VII but it may suffer to. When there will be a solutions, there will be a new release. Just be patient...

EDIT: The problem: "...table size (N value) is growing with time as follows. Until block 614,400, N = 2^{26} = 67,108,864 elements (31 bytes each). From this block, and until block 4,198,400, every 51,200 blocks N is increased by 5 percent. Since block 4,198,400, value of N is fixed and equals to 2,143,944,600." There was no fork. Its just how Autolykos2 was designed in the first place.

By the way. T-Rex developers made a nice feature for Nvidia cards. "The miner now generates the dataset for the next ERGO block before it arrives with a small penalty to reported hashrate, and when the next block does arrive, it immediately starts hashing without losing 1-4 seconds on creating the dataset. Memory requirements are doubled in this mode as the GPU has to hold two memory buffers." I wonder if there will be a possibility to implement the same strategy for AMD cards with 8GB of VRAM? That would save roughly 2.3s of no-mining time during table generation.

Any news about the next update for vega gpus if there is any possibility to get back 180 mh on these gpus

So far no luck. Back to ETH. Still, Team Red Miner is the best on ETH. 55Mh/s. It look like most of the ERG hashrate was not on Vegas. Since mining ERG, even on previous hashrates, is less profitable than ETH I don't mind to wait longer for the upgrade.

Kostas-13 commented 2 years ago

Hi! Any news? When new release will come?

qiukeln commented 2 years ago

Jesus help.

Kostas-13 commented 2 years ago

From new years eve if still no update will move to Eth as well :( Team Red Miner v0.9.0 sux as well.

Kostas-13 commented 2 years ago

TRM v0.9.1 still nada :(
