RX 570 Eth/Ton Dual Mining #543

Hello I was wondering if its "normal" that i am only getting 24.40 on eth (524 on ton) when dual mining with ton on my rx 570. Before dual mining I was getting closer to 29. I am running on hive os with 1250 core 2050 mem stable. The odd thing is my RX 590 is at full eth hashrate while dual mining. Temps for the cards are in the mid 40's so I don't suspect thermal throttling unless the mem is somehow. Both cards are repasted and padded with fans blowing over them.

Thank you all for the amazing work on all of these frequent updates!

Could you please explain how did you manage to run dual mining eth + ton on hiveOS, im having trouble with it...?

@johnnyde94 Search for core voltage - if it's to low core reduces clocks. I don't use hiveos but afaik it has a full set of overclocking parameters and probably they are optimized for Ethereum only and not sufficient for the higher load dual mining. Raise core voltage by 100 mV and see how this goes. If this is doing fine, reduce step by step again.

Very odd the hashrates for both Eth and Ton went down when i brought the voltage from 900 to 925 and I also tried 1000. I wonder if it may be thermals after all, I still don’t think so because the hashrate never gets above 24 even from a reboot where the gpu would have cooled down.

That is interesting indeed! In my experience memory is meaningless, so thermal throttling of the gpu may be the topic - but as we have a decent monitoring here, it's hard to believe - you didn't tell about temperatures so i thought, they are ok - in the 50ies or 60ies. as your temperatures look fine.

Maybe your power supply isn't sufficient for the higher load any more. That seems more reasonable as the hash rates decrease further by increasing consumption...

Inspired by your problem i tried again to move a single instance with two gpus - RX570 and RX5600 - to dual mining - and whatever i do, both are mining ton quite good, but the Ethereum hash rate of the RX570 breaks down to 3 MH/s from 30 MH/s....

As of right now, my RX570 is running at 52 degrees running 24.53Mhs ether and 511 Ton. My RX590 is running hotter at 57 degrees but running fine at 31.62 eth and 815 ton. I can’t understand if or why the 570 would be throttling while the 590 is not. The 570 as a msi armor and the 590 is a fat boy I think. I do have both computer fans running at 100, gpu fans at 100 and two large cfm fans in the room. There is only 1500Watts of heat in the room that is cold it’s self.

My guess is it's a feature ((or bug) of the autotuning process because I had my miner reboot and now my 570 is getting 29.06 eth and 235.4 Ton

Odd only occasionally will I get eth above 24 when dual mining. It would be cool if we could disable duel mining on certain cards though because as of right now straight eth is more profitable in 570, but not by much. However, I do think staking Ton is the better move even if it is slightly less profitable at the moment.

@KaNiMziE Nice... But doesn't change anything with my RX570 that doesn't dual mine - it's not a matter of settings nor auto tune. Whenever it starts, TON is fine but ETH goes down to 3 MH/s. Even if run it in a single instance...

@johnnyde94 You can disable single cards: Just select with "-d " after then "--ton" statement the cards that dual mines fine and leave the bad boy out....
