Tossing around an idea that might create better ideas:

Range finder can be a triangle or cone type thing that is very large/long when the next bar is far away and then the cone gets narrow and skinny as the base gets closer.

Can make the cone somehow futuristic and radar-ish (whatever that means).

Will drop this from this release as it is not about screen res or mplayer.
