Setting the 'cacert' parameter to point to a PEM formatter certificate results in using that certificate for validation
Added several SSL tests alongside the http tests
Added tests for new functionality

Is this package no longer being maintained? I'd be glad to take it over if it is not.

Sorry it took me so long to get around to this. I haven't had a lot of time to look at Patron recently. I have added you as a collaborator.
