To be honest, I have not used offlineimap in quite a while. When I used it there was no "Collecting data from messages" message.
Maybe you should start reading here http://docs.offlineimap.org/en/latest/MANUAL.html under Synchronization performance.

Hi,
executing offlineimap at home takes 3 minutes to go from "Collecting data from messages" to "Copy message". Now, I also want to add another IMAP server to offlineimap and am afraid that 3 minutes can become 6. So I was reading at your documentation and got interested by some undocumented options like
maxsyncaccounts
,autorefresh
andquick
.Could you please document the use of these functions on http://dev.gentoo.org/~tomka/mail.html? Thank you very much
