Please change "Special Collections" to "Institutional Collection", at:

  1. The title of page: https://lib-review-cshl-core.pantheonsite.io/archives/special-collections/
  2. The page URL: https://lib-review-cshl-core.pantheonsite.io/archives/special-collections/ to https://lib-review-cshl-core.pantheonsite.io/archives/institutional-collections/
  3. The URL link on this page: https://lib-review-cshl-core.pantheonsite.io/archives/collections/

Thanks

Please change "Special Collections" to "Institutional Collection"

These updates are done and ready for review.

Please add the Archives Right Sidebar, similar to the one described for the top-level Personal Collections.

The page should also be structured with cards at the bottom for list of collections. Similar to the top-level Person Collection page. I will provide you with those images.

Unlike the person collection cards, I will not be providing descriptive text at this time. Will add that after launch.

Each (individual) institutional collection should have it's own page. Right now multiple collections are on the same page, with a tab. Please break out each tabbed section into it's own individual institutional collection page.

All of these individual institutional collection pages, should use the identical archives right sidebar, which the Avery page uses -- after the final adjustment listed in https://github.com/tomadams/web2020/issues/45#issuecomment-742537420 is applied.

Pages have been created for all the tabbed content and all pages now have the right sidebar. 2 exceptions to this are: 1) CSHL Symposia - redirects to the http://library.cshl.edu/symposia/ 2) Oral History - this is an automatically generated Wordpress archive page from individual Oral History Posts. If you want the sidebar on this page, it will require a change to the template. https://lib-review-cshl-core.pantheonsite.io/archives/institutional-collections/oral-history/

I set up 1 row of cards, not sure if this is what you had in mind. Please take a look and let me know: https://lib-review-cshl-core.pantheonsite.io/archives/institutional-collections/

Please add the Archives Right Sidebar, similar to the one described for the top-level Personal Collections. Also, you said you wanted a sidebar on this page. The Personal Collections page does not have a sidebar so I'm not exactly sure what you mean.

tomadams commented 3 years ago

That row of cards looks good. Please go ahead with the rest of the cards (and remove the bulleted links.)

All these updates are done and ready for review.

For the cards on the institutional collections page, I'll need images for the cards, I can't remember if you already emailed those in a previous email or not.

tomadams commented 3 years ago

Sue,

Looking good.

Pictures for the top-level institutional collections were sent to you on:

On page: https://lib-review-cshl-core.pantheonsite.io/archives/institutional-collections/cold-spring-harbor-laboratory/ has a broken end tag "CSHL Collection/h3>".

Meeting abstracts looks so empty. Will send you an image.

srunkows commented 3 years ago

Top level photos have been added to the cards, broken h3 end tag fixed, meeting abstracts image added to its page.

tomadams commented 3 years ago

Great.

For the top-level institutional collections page, please add a the right sidebar with the 6 blue buttons (The guide..., 4 solid blue, one ghost button). No need to add the "Availability of Materials". This right side bar should only extend down to the initial introductory text. The rows of cards, should then extend across the full width of the page.

The same sidebar should be also added to the top-level Personal Collections page and the top-level themes page ( https://lib-review-cshl-core.pantheonsite.io/archives/themes/ ) as well.

This is going to require building another customized template. There currently is no template that has a sidebar that does not run the full height of the page.

tomadams commented 3 years ago

Maybe it is just the Joomla ingrained in me...

Instead of creating another template, can the existing template have an additional fill-width section at the bottom. So one would still have a archives template, but the full width bottom, would only be populated when it is needed.

If not possible, then run the side bar down the length of the page.

srunkows commented 3 years ago

Yes, Wordpress is very different from Joomla.

I created a draft page using the template with full height sidebar. Here's a preview link to it (note: link will expire in 7 days):

tomadams commented 3 years ago

On the full height sidebar, the cards look to squeezed to me. Possibly using 3 cards per row (instead of 4) might look better with the full height sidebar.

The sidebar should contain: the 6 blue buttons (The guide..., 4 solid blue, one ghost button)

On this page, the cards are missing the bottom margin. It makes it difficult to determine that the text is attached to the graphic above or below. When I narrow the window width. so that only two cards appear, then we see rows with: 2-cards, 1-card, 2-cards, 1-card, 2-cards, etc.

This is because the cards components was coded to display only in a full width column not a 3/4 column. The entire cards component needs to be revised. This will not happen until after site launch.
