Paula’s Suggestions on the New Library Site

1) Although the photo on the home page is nice, I think an external photo of the Library would be better

2) 'Researchers at CSHL' Symplectic site needs a link back to the Library site

3) 24 Hour Self Checkout section is way too wordy. Better would be:

The Library has two self-checkout stations that can be used 24/7 with your CSHL ID. One is on the main floor near the front entrance, the other in the basement with the main circulating collection. See Paula in room 108 or contact her to get set up, or if the 'user not found' message comes up on the screen (abisogni@cshl.edu, 516-367-8479).

4) Library News link (bottom of home page) goes to Lab news not library news

5) The Circulation/Borrowing section is old. I've since updated it in my LibGuide, and am going to tweek it a bit more https://cshl.libguides.com/circulation

6) Library Catalog link at bottom of page goes to the timeout page; should be: https://cosp.sirsi.net/uhtbin/cgisirsi/x/SIRSI/0/57/60/502/X?user_id=WEBSERVER or https://cosp.sirsi.net/uhtbin/cgisirsi/0/MAIN/0/60/502/X

7a) E-books section is poorly worded. Better would be:

The Library has access to thousands of ebooks from multiple suppliers, including Springer, Elsevier, Wiley, Oxford, and Ebook Central. We also have access to video lectures in the Henry Stewart Talks Biomedical & Life Sciences Collection.

The icon and link to WormBook should be removed (because it's not in the same category as the other icons), as should the section on Elsevier E-books by Title be removed.

Sue, please ignore this issue. I will take care of it.

  1. Link to library site is in the footer of Symplectic discovery.
  2. Updated the text, left the paragraph Using the stations unchanged
  3. Library news link does go to the library news.
  4. Updated circulation page.
  5. The link seem to work for me, but will put in the change.
  6. Added text at top. Removed Wormbook. Will check with other if Elsevier should be removed.
