tomatoes based FOSS projects stats #71

Got a super idea dealing with FOSS projects. We can make a feature (maybe based on the project manager already existing) to know which FOSS projects are concerned by the tomatoe and one time the project is known in the DB the tomatoes users should then be able to find and select it after they made a tomatoe like we're already doing with tags. In addition we can use as a begin the github API to link github already hosted project and display stats and a top list of FOSS projects receiving tomatoes. Later, it may be even possible to link github bug tracker on it.

Cheers,

I like this feature but it sounds very complicated. I think you should divide it in subtasks to make it more handy.

At the moment you can use projects (http://tomato.es/projects) to collect tomatoes using tags and get aggregate statistics.

Question: does the projects manager already get aggregate statistics with other tomatoes' users working on the same project ? If not it should be a nice to make it first. And I agree with you, this feature is so huge and will try to devide it into several subtasks. Like the pomodoro technique says "If It Lasts More Than 5-7 Pomodoros, Break It Down" ;-)

Unfortunately no.

Only now I understood the power of your idea! It came in my mind some time ago, but as I said, it seemed so big I didn't even get its end.

I think your idea can be splitted in two macro tasks:

  1. shared projects
  2. github issues and repos connection
