What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. there is no search button to press
2. There are no red x's for removing search criteria
3. text needs to be revised
4. list of DWC fields would be useful

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.

I see now that it works as it should. However, if we assume that some users
are like
me, then people won't understand it. Can we make it more user-friendly?

I emailed you several suggestions last Friday.

How easy would it be to keep the simple search box and button; this becomes the
advanced search button, and any advanced searches are added to whatever is or
was in
the simple search box.

Hope that is explained adequately; basically, just maintain the search button
when
you click "Advanced search" link.

Suggestions from Claire's email message:

1) ...if you just change the button to read "search" that would take care of the
problem, because it seems that you can add as many fields as you want by using
the
blank field above labeled "Add a search field" and you don't need to click that
button to add it.

2) ...I would like to change the text above to make it shorter and more
readable -- I
can work on that.

For the first suggestion, I believe that you are required to click the "Add
Search
Criteria" in order for the criteria to be added to the column on the right. If
we
renamed the button to "Search", users might expect search results, but instead
they
will simply have added a search criteria to their query.

Tom, an earlier release implemented your suggestion and it seemed to cause more
confusion.

Hmmm... It sounds like we need to re-think the advanced search UI.

advanced search here on code.google.com, or the one on scholar.google.com are
potentially good models for the UI
