Code listings for printed book should use darker background #9

Current colour is too light, hardly distinguishable from the rest of the page (looks ok on screen)

Background colour is now darker (plus there's lots of other code improvements). Looks good on paper from my printer, however the final result will only be known after ordering updated book from lulu. Nonetheless, closing the issue for now!
