Instead of safety wire clamping the Adafruit LED displays to the plexi, they could instead be safety wired or screwed to a backer plate. The backer plate would have a 2 rectangular cut outs for the LED modules with holes matching the mounting holes. #2 screws could be used to mount the dislays. Safety wire using the additional holes provided and the relief slots on the front of the board would also work.
The backer board would also have holes for the LED and the switch.
It would have reinforced areas and pilot holes for standard 3 1/8" instrument mounting screws.
Note - this may not be needed if an aux display circuit board is made.
