Markdown citations inside table #29

Hi there! I'm trying to figure out how to include markdown style citations ( [@Someone2020] ) inside my LaTeX table. At the moment they're not recognized unfortunately. Is this somehow possible by overriding the header-includes field as described here? Any advice is appreciated!
