So after doing some research on this PIR foam insulation (Polyisocyanurate) seems the best and easiest to get hold of and takes on the least amount of water. It is also available from a home depot / b&q!

Water moisture is bad as the thermal conductivity of the material will reduce.

And if you want to increase the conductivity then double the insulation*

*Ignore design issues.
