@tomic1785 I'd like to build this as well. The chip is available again and this platform seems to be the right choice (compared to Teensy++ 2.0 based designs, or the one with the Atmel chip with USB C but no 20 pin option, or the Atmel with a additional shift register (model H and the design by mschwingen) ). Please let us know if you intend to go forward. I'll help you where I can!
Oh, hi!
I had completely forgotten about this. It was kind of a summer project during my undergrad. There was also a forum thread. Maybe we could bump it and continue the discussion there.
I remember I promised to open-source the hardware, however I've never managed to get around doing it. There were a couple of PCB revisions and 3 or 4 versions of BOM so it's kind of a tedious task.
Anyway. I see the supply chain for both STM32 and PADAUK chips is back in order, so the project makes sense again.
For now, I've got several chips and boards, as well as a bunch of membrane connectors (which were hard to find at the time) laying around, so I could assemble a couple of PCBs (let's say 4 or 5). I need to re-figure out the PADAUK chip flashing. I made a custom programmer for them, but haven't used it since 2021. That's one of the reasons why compiling the documentation will take some work. That chip is used to switch STM32 into bootloader mode. 'Unconventional' to say the least, but it's cheap and it works.
So, to wrap it up:
Cheers!
@tomic1785 Really nice to hear from you. (I tried to sign-up for the forum thread, but it just started over, no error messages. I tried to email mech @ this domain; that got returned.) I think it would be super great if you did the first two bullets and I understand the third. I would be happy to negotiate something we could both agree on for two boards. I think others would also be very interested in a high-quality solution to M keyboard USB access like this one! This is exciting, Jon PS Not sure if I could help; but would try.
@tomic1785 This is just an inquiry to see if you have given this anymore thought and to reiterate my sincere interest. Jon
@jonhp The discussion is continued on deskthority. Join us there!
just wondering. i didn't see any of the files necessary to build the pcb, bom list, ... Jon
