Document User Meta Data:

CRUD (Add/Update, Read/Fetch, Delete)
Sanitize during save
Display (public + profile.php, user-edit.php, users.php screens)
Validate when displaying
Hooks on the user profile screens
Add columns to the User lists
Media/Attachment handling

This naturally resides in http://www.wptherightway.org/en/post_types/README.html though the folder name needs changing to data so the URL and chapter title matches. There's a lot of things in that list though. Initially I'd add just CRUD then plan how to break the Data chapter up into sub-chapters once that's complete
