I just added a package called find-selection that does search text selections. I didn't see this package before I published mine. I don't use any editor like vim or emacs so I'm not familiar with the commands you refer to. I just used ctrl-f3 and shift-ctrl-f3 which are idiomatic for atom.

Feel free to copy my code.

Hey @mark-hahn, thanks for your comment. I'm not actively working on this at the moment. It sounds like your package has all of the features in find-letter (and more) so I expect users will download your package instead :)
