Will it be compatible with Firefox 57 #43

This add-on does not seem to be compatible with the new way of writing add-ons through WebExtensions, so will there be a new version supporting Firefox 57 or will it die in November?

tommut commented 6 years ago

As you stated, starting with FF 57, Mozilla is ditching the old addon framework (XUL) and only supporting addons using the new web-based framework.

Unfortunately as this is a passion side-project, I do not have the time and resources to do a complete rewrite of the add-on at this time. Hopefully I'll will get a chance for a rewrite in the future. But in November, unless using Pale Moon (a variant of Firefox), you'll likely have to find another HTTP request addon.

Wish I had better news!

Sorry to hear that. I use HttpRequester almost every day and I think it is an excellent tool. This is a very strange move from Mozilla and I suspect that many add-ons will follow the same path as yours.

Did some research and Waterfox seems like another viable alternative in November: https://www.lifehacker.com.au/2017/08/waterfox-might-be-your-best-option-when-firefox-disables-support-for-legacy-addons/

Interesting. I had not seen that one. Thanks for passing that on.

Sad news, i love this addon and also use it daily. Don't know why Mozilla hates us...

Firefox Quantum is actually a really good browser, but everyone hates to see their favorite add-on go.

October 2018 and i don't jump to Quantum just because I really need your extension...

amosbatto commented 5 years ago

I haven't tried it yet, but this extension seems to be a good replacement for HttpRequester in Firefox 57+: HTTP request maker https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/http-request-maker/
