Really good news regarding the sound issue #29

Lenovo today pushed a new update via Windows Update that updates the EC of the 14ARB7. And with that the speakers now work out of the box, even with older kernels like 5.19 etc.

Even the BIOS now yells at you when you enter your Admin password wrong.

So no more i2c settings needed for sound.

Oh and the tweeters and woofers work.

Any way to get this without actually running windows on the machine?

Actually, something whole different happened on my end. I updated the EC through Windows (there is an update named Lenovo System) and afterwards my laptop hang, so i hard reset it. And with that even had full sound under linux. Now after a reboot it is back to just the tweeters...... So i guess the i2c settings from windows were buffered in between reboots?!

So false alarm by me, sorry.
