I know. I know. The phrase “Developer Tools" (DevTools for short) seems pretty specific for who the intended user should be. You may be saying, “These are tools for developers. I'm a [insert job title here]. Why would I possibly need to know how to use this?"
While DevTools is a standard feature that has been built into Google Chrome to allow website, software, and application developers to understand what's going on in the browser, these same tools can be powerful instruments for you as well. I believe if your company offers any kind of product that is integrated with the internet (which is becoming more popular with the Internet of Things), you HAVE to be able to use DevTools – even if at a basic level.
Note: FireFox and Internet Explorer also have their own developer tools. I'm focusing on Google Chrome because it currently has the most users of the major web-browsers [source]
