Enhance main menu map, well technically the special hero gate. Before any major graphics overhaul. We could:

Use real point lights in the candles
Tryout the JME god rays instead of light beams (just try... maybe not the smartest move)
The hero gate peaces are static and never deformed -> texture maps, bump mapping...

Would provide a nice modern impression.

Related, main menu now has torches :) It really doesn't need to.
