I was receiving Mega Link Error as well. I had a proxy list in the smart proxy setting in Megabasterd. I spent an hr trying to get the link to download and it dawned on me to remove the proxy list, which was probably using expired proxies when trying to download the megalink since the proxy list is so large and the program picks a random proxy, so i turned off smart proxy. Now I no longer receive the mega link error dialog anymore and the content is now downloading. Edit: Yes, I am using the latest version of Megabasterd. I am on Windows 11.
