Problems with helper apps on Mac #57

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load the program
2. QDevelop doesn't recognize the Mac ctags program (even though it's where it
guessed it was)
3. Also, QDevelop doesn't load when double-clicking a .ui file in the Files pane

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

See above.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

QDevelop 0.21, Mac OS 10.4.8, XCode 2.4.1

Please provide any additional information below.

Update: managed to get Designer to load (needed to specify the binary inside
the app folder). Still can't get it to
recognize ctags, though.

(Another) Update: Downloaded & build a more recent ctags, installed it in
/usr/local and it's working now.

Nevermind :) (although it would be an idea to mention this on the site.)

On some Linux distributions (and perhaps Mac), /usr/bin/ctags is a link to Emacs
ctags who is not a good version. In this case, in "External Tools" dialog, set
the
command to /usr/bin/exuberant-ctags for the ctags field. It's mentionned on the
site
on http://qdevelop.org/doc.php#mozTocId146626
