Add font to windows store #660

Open goto1134 opened 6 years ago

goto1134 commented 6 years ago

Hello! It would be great if this wonderful font will be available on Windows Store. In this case one will not need any administrative rights to install the font and the font will become more accessible.

tonsky commented 6 years ago

Is it possible? Do they take any fees?

goto1134 commented 6 years ago

There are some fonts in the store. Most or even all of them are owned by Microsoft.

Unfortunately I didn't find any free way to do it. They take fees: $19 for individual account and $99 for commercial.

I hoped there is a free way for open source projects, but there isn't any. Now I don't think, it's a good idea.

jongalloway commented 6 years ago

If a personal account would work, I'll pay the $19 registration fee. I don't think there are any fees on top of that if your app (font) is free in the store. Asking around to see if there are better options, but if not I'm happy to donate $19 towards my favorite font.

Ya we can fix this. @bitcrazed

tonsky commented 6 years ago

Ok I’ll see what the process looks like and if it’s possible to provide fonts this way

goto1134 commented 6 years ago

Cool! I'm also ready to support fee payment.

You can use PayPal Pools to fundraise money for the store account! I'd be intrested on getting this wonderful font from the store! With the new console or fluent console and vscode is a must have :D
