Can't change entry's in language debug mode

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Menue Debug
2. change entry ae to ä
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
can't change entrys, please see attachment

errors in console:
once again I want make a new entry for font size, but without add a new 
language.
No chance, to write german "Umlaute" (what is OK, when language is "DEFAULT"), 
but 
on the other hand leo has to show the character from american layout, nothing. 
Please see first error messages in log.
The other comes up, when I add new language locale.

This happens because you didn't have the 'DEFAULT' locale actually selected in 
the list. I need to update the code to force the first element to be selected.
