For oncall, it's often that if you haven't responded within N minutes, it 
gets escalated to other people.  If I have forgotten my phone at home/on my 
desk, I wouldn't want it to keep beeping forever.

A configurable option to stop alerting after N minutes would rock.

The standard pager alerts you on receipt of the message, then notifies you 
again repeatedly when you don't read it. After a while the pager gives up on 
repeat notifications (mostly to save the battery).
