What are you guys doing, are you on HOLIDAY? Little statement would be nice at least.

MariusAlbrecht commented 2 years ago

the audacity. People work on this project in their free time without any major payment. If you want changes to the project do them yourself but don't get rude like anybody owes you anything

nobody's here to entertain you, you entitled brat. like the above comment says, people work on this in their free time

It would have been nice to get some sort of update from the devs, even just saying "this project is abandoned," but like others have said, the devs work on this in their free time and don't owe us anything. Hopefully someone will eventually fork AMIDST to make a version for 1.18, like kahomayo did for AMDIST-infdev, but until then there are other tools like cubiomes-viewer that accomplish largely the same thing. There's also Chunkbase on the web, although I'm not a big fan of its UI. If you want to view 1.18 seeds, I suggest you use one of these.

Okay I guess I was quite harsh with my post. I want to apologise for my rudeness I was just SO annoyed in the moment. But I still want to add that a lot of people were using Amidst since it was by far the best seed viewer out there and that the devs would make a lot of people very happy if they'd update it.

For MCPE/MCBE players, there's also a handful of tools that will actually let you generate maps and even individual block data for your specific world, complete with all changes from player activity like mining, building, etc. If that's more what you're looking for, check out bedrock-viz or Papyrus I know there are similar projects for Java Edition as well, but as a Bedrock player I can't recommend any offhand. But I do know one thing, the attitude this issue's OP has towards development progress surely isn't going to go over well, regardless of which project. If you want it done at the snap of your fingers, try this revolutionary new concept known as hiring someone

THIS. Especially the last part, I've been upset with the directors/creators/devs/etc. of projects before, but I've never stooped so low as to dunk on a group of people who probably just made this program in their bedrooms, it's disgusting and it shows that the OP didn't spend even 10 seconds to read over their post and think about what they were saying.

If I personally wasn't busy with other projects, I would get in contact with the lead developer to have it handed off to someone else. I would probably be in a better position to update this than anyone else at the moment, but I haven't worked with the codebase in so long and I'm still busy. If anyone wants to get into development so they could try to maintain the project, let me know (discord: burger#3389) and I can try to see if I can get this up and running again.

In the meantime, there's also Minemap which is currently only for 1.0-1.16.5, but the devs are known in the community and are at least somewhat more active.

Kinomora commented 2 years ago

Neil from the MC@Home guys (the seedcrackers behind pack.png and more) forked and maintains a much more user-friendly version of Amidst called Minemap . It doesn't yet support 1.18 but there's a lot that goes into it because Xoroshiro and other changes- lots of libraries and tools have to be completely rewritten.
