ive updated to the autokey-gtk newest as of today, but this issue has always
happened even before the update.

after i run a script in autokey, whether i quit or dont quit autokey-gtk first,
when i try to reboot or shutdown my ubuntu 11.10 system it hangs and fails to
complete reboot.

it ONLY hangs if i run a script in autokey-gtk

anyone have ANY idea why this is?

See the Troubleshooting wiki page and post your debug output. You might need to
pipe the debug log output from AutoKey to a file so it is captured while your
system is shutting down. Also capture the output that is produced while your
script runs.
