Many Many 4.0 Issues #55

4.0 broke our online store. Upgraded from the previous version.

Without any edits to our shop page, we got this error code:

Fatal error: Call to a member function getCurrentIndex() on a non-object in /home/macedoniafilms/macedoniafilms.com/wp-content/plugins/official-topspin-wordpress-plugin/classes/ts_query.php on line 74

With some fiddling I got the shop working, BUT, all my digital downloads are showing as "Sold Out," AND "topspin-store" has been shoehorned into my URL, which I absolutely do not want.

Also, I REALLY don't like that my admin is now crowded with tons of unnecessary top-level menus and logos. It was better with just one Topspin menu item, and NO logo in the top admin bar.

Dan,

As with anything new, there's always pushback from legacy users such as yourself. However, the changes that have been made to the plugin are for the better, both now, and for future development. However, we're sorry you are experiencing trouble - thank you for reporting it.

Try installing v4.0.1, which is a new version that was pushed to deal with some legacy users who were having a similar issue. Please let us know if that fixes the issue. If it does not, please let us know here and we will take a look at your specific case.

Also, if your store is down, and v4.0.1 doesn't address this, we suggest you revert back to the backup of your store / site that was made prior to installing the update (assuming you read the documentation and made the backup as suggested).

4.0.1 hasn't resolved any of my issues.

Hi Dan,

We 've pushed a new version (4.0.2) that include additional options to allows legacy users to hide the Topspin admin bar shortcut and group the panels under the main Topspin panel like version 3.0. Please upgrade to 4.0.2 to take advantage of these 2 new options.

In addition, you can simply change the custom store post type from "topspin-store" to just "store" or any other unused custom post slug for each of your store pages in the General Settings page.

Example: A store page "Apparel" with a slug of "apparel" will live on http://mywebsite.com/topspin-store/apparel/" by default and will live on http://mywebsite.com/store/apparel/" after the change mentioned above.

In addition, are you using any custom template or styling? If so, you would need to update your custom templates accordingly.

What if I want my shop at "http://mywebsite.com/shop" ?

...and by legacy users, do you mean "Original Topspin" vs. Topspin's GoDirect service?

If you want your shop at "/shop" simply change the store post type in the Topspin --> General Settings page to "shop" and set the default store page that you'd like to live at /shop to whatever store page you want from that dropdown.

By legacy users, we are referring to legacy users of the Topspin plugin, so anything pre-4.0.

As always with significant changes like this, there are growing pains and bugs. We appreciate your patience, and your help in identifying the issues that you experienced so we could better the plugin for others. With these issues addressed, we are now closing this ticket but if you have any other functionality / bug-related issues, please feel free to open a new ticket.
