Plugin is crashing site #64

I updated to 4.0.7 and the stores are no longer working. In fact, on one site the plugin is causing the site to timeout. On the other the images in the store are no longer working.

Ok. At times it is working, other times not. But, my main issue is that it is slowing down my site dramatically. I have turned off the plugin and the site loads instantly. Turn it on and it either times out or takes seconds to load.

@stereotonic , Are you receiving any error logs from your server logs?

I'm having the same issue. Nothing in my server error log. Site is timing out about 75% of the time and loads after about 30 seconds the other 25%. Kind of reminiscent of a http/https conflict.

I've narrowed it down to something in the init hook in the WP_Topspin_Hooks_Controller....

It looks like the issue is somewhere withing the doUpgrade() function. I'm running the most current version of the plugin 4.0.7. It looks like in the init function of the upgrade controller its trying to compare versions to 4.0.0 and if theyre lower it runs this function. Well, the quick fix, is checking in the wp_options table for 'topspin_version' to make sure the value here shows the current version. Mine was set to 3.3.3 for some reason even though I've upgraded it twice, so I just manually set it to 4.0.7. Not sure what series of circumstances caused this(perhaps a prior bad upgrade script or a current bug?) but hopefully this helps someone. I'd like to look into it further but I don't really have the time right now.

Can you email us your FTP to dev@theuprisingcreative.com so we can investigate further? We're unable to replicate the problem in our own server environment so it could be a server misconfiguration.
