Fix for latest Django and Wagtail, and add tests for mdx #105

This project doesn’t currently run with latest Django and Wagtail versions, despite the setup.py requiring recent versions. While fixing this, i noticed some obsolete code in the MD extensions, and most importantly, the absence of tests, which I added.
