Hmm, that would be a bit complex ATM becuase veryhting is very tightly
integrated,
but if enough people want it, I can have a go at it for 0.3.

Hum I believe that the awn should allow the user to choose between the
launcher only
mode and the launcher and active windows mode.

Don't see a point in launcher only mode ;/

*I* would not use it, but some people really only want a launcher and prefer to
use
another app for managing open windows.

As a launcher only app, would that mean I can now open multiple windows of the
same
program (ex firefox) by clicking on the firefox icon multiple times on awn?
Right
now, doing that just minimizes and maximizes the first window it opens. To
open more
firefox windows, I need to open it up from my menu bar.
Thanks and great job!

Use middle click on an active launcher to start a new instance of the
application :-).

Yes, I want this feature too. I want to use AWN only as a app launcher. I'll
wait
until it's done because I think it's the best dock for GNOME.

I just started to use avant and I was looking really hard for "launcher only"
behaviour. I'll live with what I got, but still this feature would be much
appreciated.

I use the regular Gnome taskbar for management, but still like having the
launcher of
awn. Sign me up scotty!

+1 vote for having a launcher behavior. It's otherwise a great app!

I find it kind of awkward to have to use middle click on an active launcher to
start
a new instance. It also seems weird that new instances are then separated by
the from
the launcher, where the "new instances" behave like windows on the gnome panel,
but
the "active launcher" behaves like both. If possible, it would be nice, if
when an
application is launched, it shouldn't be attached to the launcher icon but to a
new
one and separated from the launcher, like when starting multiple instances of
the
same application.
I hope I'm not restating whats already been said :D This is just my opinion. I
wouldn't want a completely separate applet to manage windows, launchers and
windows
should just be separated on awn.
