Title persistence after restart broken #66

Open novoid opened 1 year ago

novoid commented 1 year ago

Hi,

I'm referring to the feature implemented in #12 on a computer running Xubuntu 22.04 LTS, Firefox 112.0.2 (64-bit) in combination with https://tab-session-manager.sienori.com/ v6.12.1 (and others) if that matters. Same on a Debian testing with same Firefox version.

Since a few months (multiple Firefox version upgrades took place), I lose all my window titles after a Firefox restart.

Sometimes, the titles seem to be preserved after a reboot but they vanish somehow after a while when working with Firefox: titles are visible in the (Xorg) window title but when I open the titling popup via Window Titler button ("Set the window title:"), the text field is empty. Therefore, I need to open up each FF Window just to enter the title once again before they're gone after a while.

Me, too, in Ubuntu 22.04 and in Windows 10.

Thanks for the confirmation. Then it's not just me who's having that issue.

This has been a serious issue for me too, for several months now, in Windows 10. Tomasz, it was all working fine. It is likely that an update for Firefox or Windows 10 has broken it imo. In Firefox on Windows 10, if I hover over the FF icon in the task-bar, I can see a list of available FF windows or FF tabs (depending on the number of open tabs perhaps?). In the (Titler) broken state the Window name is missing making this list virtually useless! If I choose such an option, all I have to do to get it back is to click the Titler icon (my required name is still there) and press 'OK', done! I hope this gives you a better clue of where to look for the bug.

If you are making any improvements, I would love to be able to set the order of the available windows when I hover over the FF icon in the Windows Taskbar - Please?

Secondly, to be able to save and recall such sets of available URLS, in titled Windows, would be a wonderful asset. Also if the list could be edited (or usefully pasted into a document with active links).

I love working with lots of Windows open or at least available, however when Windows or FF decides to close everything it is seriously debilitating to our productivity. Your work has been a big help - so I hope these Ideas help for a new version.

Thanks for your efforts,

Jim

This extension is of great help, except that my Firefox windows keep losing their titles upon restart, too, on Windows 10 with Tab Session Manager also installed. Then I have to figure out what the theme of the tabs in each window was in order to re-create each window's Title.
