Compare with other metrics #7

Comparison of Q_R not only with Q and connectance but also with other network metrics, such as linkage density or dependence asymmetry (and particularly those with a more or less clear ecological interpretation, such as H2'). The question, again, is: what does Q_R provide in addition to current metrics?

I believe that the additional benefits offered by this metric are outline in the introduction, and the The Measure section of main text: it allows to compare the output of different methods to optimized modularity.

I understand the desire to see Q_R related to more ecological questions. I show in Fig. 3 that it is also less sensitive to connectance (which I assume to be what the ref. refers to as "linkage density") than Q.

Dependence asymmetry, as measured by H2' or otherwise, is extremely lacking in generality as it requires quantitative measures of interaction strength, and or population size. This will not apply to all ecological networks (the public data with this level of resolution are scarce), and certainly not to other types of networks. How Q_R relates to a particular set of ecological metrics is a system-specific question that is best left adressed on its own.
