Are the fonts in question already installed? This error may show up if you're
installing a duplicate font.

No, these are specifically System Validation Errors (red circle "x", error name
System Validation), not Duplicate Font Warnings with yellow triangles.

Interesting. Changa, and the fonts that follow it alphabetically, work fine for
me in OS X 10.7.1.

Sigh. I was really hoping to avoid having to reset my font cache and db.

I have this problem too and it's a real pain. I'm using OSX 10.6. Really need
Google Fonts installed on my computer!!
Do you think resetting the font cache and db would work? What would be the
negative consequences of this?

I can also confirm this issue on OS 10.7.3 on a MacBook Pro, 8Gb RAM, 3 months
old.
As of yesterday, Font Book took 8 hours to validate the entire library (used
mercurial to download), and produced "do not install" errors for 168 fonts. It
only just occurred to me to check this out today after the fact, so I don't
have details on the exact font names, but I can attempt this again after
clearing everything out and let you know, if that helps.

I have this same issue - is there still no fix?

Had the same issue with validation...drove me nuts! Here's how I got them to
work.
Go into preferences in Font Book, turn off the Validation.
Created a new Google Fonts library and imported...they now work just fine.
Good luck!

I can also confirm this problem -- fontbook thinks that ALL my fonts are
corrupted. This is a load of bull if ever there was one. But as comment #9 --
there is no option to turn of validation in Font Book Preferences! I've looked!
The reason I landed on this page is because I am searching for a way to
_somehow_ turn off font validation in this stupid program... any ideas?

I was getting the same problems with font validation on my iMac on osx 10.7.3,
with many 'do not install' errors and other warnings. I managed to find this
post:
https://github.com/vernnobile/RokkittFont/issues/1 which in short, says to
execute these commands in Terminal:
atsutil databases -removeUser
atsutil server -shutdown
atsutil server -ping
So I deleted my installed google fonts ran the commands and started reimporting
the fonts without any errors. It did however still take over 8 hrs to import
them all!
