Personally I have done the following. I tried experimentally (I used Gradius Deluxe Pack intro movies) to find a sector delay setting that basically slows SAROO down to the speed of the original drive. For me a setting of 6000 works great, I have removed all game specific settings and have not seen any issues (Grandia works fine for me as well, just tested this).
My reasoning was that the SAROO ODE is just too fast for the software that was written with the 2x speed CD in mind. Slowing it down to the original drive's speed will increase compatibility in all games (yes it is slower, but I rather have working games than fast loading ones ;)
Try what works for you, the value may need increasing or decreasing because SD cards are not all the same speed either of course. But 6000 is probably a good starting point.
Tried editing the global sector delay speed to a few different values (500, 1000, 2000, 6000, 10000, 30000) and still no luck for me, the lower number delays seemed to let the opening scene work a bit longer but not much. Tried different bin/cue dumps as well. Thanks for the help though!
This game does not require adjusting the 'delay parameter'.
Please check the image, SD card or SAROO card
Thanks to you both for responding. It ended up being the SD card. Before I had been using a samsung EVO, for some reason it had issues with grandia. I tried a sandisk ultra and it had no problems running grandia (played about 30 minutes.
Every time I try to play Grandia Disk 1 (japan) (1M) the game freezes, the game loads to main menu but when I try to start it almost immediately freezes in the opening scene. I am on the latest (0.6) firmware. I have had 0 compatibility issues with any other games.
