As we learned the hard way in the eCVI standard, a closed species list will always run into unexpected use-cases. I suggest we either A: make the species list as exhaustive as possible or B: add an extension mechanism such as "OTH" species code with an optional pair of elements OtherSpeciesCode, OtherSpeciesName. The advantage of B: would be that receiving systems would only need to implement the specified list. It could process OtherSpeciesCode or just leave it as OTH if that worked.
