Probably won’t ever work properly on mobile. Perhaps allow controlling other devices from mobile?

Actually the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of being able to control other players as a feature, whether it's tied to mobile or not.

Perhaps I can use the init failure hook on the player to trigger a state change to display a different 'controller' UI, otherwise have a dropdown in the navbar?
