How to format equations in website after pkgdown update? #196

Previously i was using the method described at https://gist.github.com/hturner/3152081e223ade0bb212bcef19f183bf to force pkgdown to use the bookdown::html_document2 format for output, which allows equation numbering and references.

This no longer works in the latest version of pkgdown. A potential solution has been described, that we can override the formats by adding 

pkgdown:
  as_is: true

to the yaml frontmatter.

At present, however, the formatting of equations and equation numbers still isn't working.
