Problem with 2 Plex users, 1 Trakt acct #33

Open intel352 opened 7 years ago

intel352 commented 7 years ago

@fuzeman I have 2 users on my Plex server, that I want to scrobble/sync to a single Trakt account.

User 1: admin account, is linked to Trakt and Plex User 2: managed account, is linked to Plex only (attempting to link to Trakt fails when using same Trakt acct)

Both are configured with scrobbling enabled, as well as all sync options set to Full (where possible).

Client Rules: none User Rules:

Trakt config on Plex server is set up with user filter to only allow User 1 and User 2 (to doubly ensure that Guests or shared users don't end up scrobbling to Trakt).

The User 1 (admin) account can sync to Trakt without issue, but User 2 is not syncing and is not scrobbling. When I check the Trakt status for User 2, I see the error "Trakt account hasn't been authenticated".

-- Some info on my library set up (in case you can propose a better approach for what I'm trying to accomplish):

Two libraries exist, "Movies" and "TV". These libraries contain all media from my server. Only the admin account (User 1) can access these libraries. Two additional libraries exist, "Family Movies" and "Family TV". These libraries are a subset of the above, using symlinks, for the managed user account (User 2).

The idea obviously being the managed account (User 2) is used for watching family friendly media, and the admin account (User 1) can access whatever. I want to track all User 2 activity in Trakt along with User 1, and if ultimately possible, I would like to have User 2's activity to additionally be reflected in User 1's library (so if User 2 watches a show in "Family TV", that show's watched status should propagate to User 1 automatically).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have exactly the same problem. Any information about this yet?

This isn't possible yet. The plan is to support this in a big overhaul to the syncing system later this year, but there is still a lot of work required before even a beta release would be available.

Hi @intel352 !

Since this is going to take a while (THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS!) you could help yourself with this:

https://github.com/xbgmsharp/trakt

Of course it's more like a one time solution. But at least it's possible that way to sync your stuff to whatever trakt-user you want.

Hi! Any news on the overhaul of the syncing system?

Waffull commented 6 years ago

Any update on this? I'd really like to have multiple plex users played status synced to one trakt account. In previous version of trakt-for-plex that's how it worked. But in the newer version, syncing seems to be by username, very annoying.

Thank you.

+1 for this feature

Anyone figured how to get this use-case working?
