Plugin marks random episodes of random show as watched #478

So for a while now, I've been experiencing very weird issue. Sometimes, I will open trakt and see that random episodes of random show that I have never watched have been marked as watched.

For example today I opened trakt and found that suddenly S01E07 of The Family was watched twice last April. That episode only. I have never even heard of this show, let alone watched it or had it in the Plex library.

It is definitely this plugin causing the issue, because those random watches stop when I revoke access to trakt for plex plugin. I have tried completely deleting trakt plugin and re-installing it from scratch (with new access token), but it did not help.

Any idea what could I do to further debug the issue? I tried searching through the logs, but did not found anything useful (word "family" for example was never mentioned in the logs when I scanned through today, except for the CPU family at the top).

@matejdro came here to mention this exact same issue. Have tried everything you mentioned and more to attempt to troubleshoot.

Same for me.. Started sometime ago, but now occurs more often. The fun fact is the Movie or Tv Show marked as watched on Trakt.Tv does not even exist on my Plex library.

Same issue here, I have tried now to change the matcher from "Plex extended" to "Plex". As far as I could read the extended version tries to match the episode using therefore caper: https://github.com/fuzeman/caper The standard matcher however uses directly the identifier provided by Plex, so as long as the show is correctly matched I guess it should work properly.

This might cause some issue with multi-episode files but also might solve the random show scrobbling. I let you know if the issue still persists anyway.

Same issue here, random episodes of random TV Shows popping in my Trakt history. Sometimes entire seasons, sometimes 1 episode. Yesterday was the show "Nature" that I never heard of, nor have I it in my Plex server.

UPDATE (30/03/18): Never happened to me again since my post. Don't know why.

I believe I may have worked around the issue on my setup, as I've had the same issue for months, with different installs of Plex. Even had a ticket open with Justin at Trakt about it who confirmed it was the plugin sending it.

Basically my settings are as follows: image

This means that the plugin will never send existing watched data to trakt, however, it will scrobble what is currently being watched - and thus anything will be marked as watched on a per episode/movie basis but only when it is actually being watched.

Can't guarantee this fixes the issue, but for me it doesn't seem like it's added anything to trakt that I haven't watched over the past week or so that I've had this set up.
