Multiple copies of movie and sync #393

I have found that since the last update using Kodi repositories, if you have 2 copies of the same movie, Trakt will only use one of the two. For example, I watch movie ABC. It is marked on Trakt as watched and all the normal items like rating are all set. Now, I add another copy, lets say a 1080 version in addition to the 720 version I already have there and watched. When I run Trakt, this new and duplicate copy of the movie is not marked watched, given the user rating, etc from Trakt. If I manually go into the Kodi database and duplicate the play count, last watched and user rating fields to the one missing the data, Trakt still performs the same. Nothing is changed in Kodi and Trakt remains at one play. So it appears there is an issue with marking local duplicates with Trakt data.

Last update only touched episode sync. Nothing movie related.

Maybe your config is not correct for your usecase?

I am unsure exactly what you mean by the statement, but I think I got it. The way I am using Kodi and tMM (which creates the NFO files) is no different than I have been, since the start. So my process has not changed, but the issue stated here has changed. This is a new thing, it has never done this before. I had many duplicates a few months back, 720 and 1080 versions. I have reduced that in the interest of space and just use 720 now and just use the Disc itself if I really need 1080.

I cannot say that the prior update changed anything, that is the only event I can think of to use for a timeframe. I know that before the update, it worked, where now, it does not. There mayb e other updates, like to Kodi or something, that might be causing this too.

can you try to go back to the prior version of this addon then? Kodi offers an option for that. I can't see the error, but if you can confirm, that it's the latest version that caused it, I can have a look.

Btw which version of kodi are you on anyway?

thwaller commented 7 years ago

Kodi 17.3 Git:20170525-nogitfound is exactly what it reports. Sure, I can go back a version. If not from Kodi, I will get a prior release from here.

Trakt is at 3.1.12

thwaller commented 7 years ago

Well, the same issue is there on version 3.1.11. I will try 3.1.10 next and see, but maybe the issue is elsewhere.

thwaller commented 7 years ago

I have tried and tested on 3.1.10 and it is same there. Would you suggest continuing to try downgrading, or do you suspect this change in behaviour is caused from something elsewhere?

razzeee commented 7 years ago

I will test it locally when I find some time

razzeee commented 7 years ago

I can confirm that it's not working as you describe it. Not sure it ever worked that way.

thwaller commented 7 years ago

Thanks for checking. I can say it (Kodi) did work as I have described a few months back, but I guess I cannot say exactly what allowed / provided such functionality. I assumed it was this addon, but I cannot be sure. There has been a Kodi \update and I am sure there have been updates over at Trakt.tv.

The only thing I can recall that might help is that often I would need to use the "Refresh" option in Kodi for the duplicates to show as watched. If you believe this addon has never done such a thing, I guess we can close this on the assumption that there has been a change elsewhere.

I realized now the same issue. I've multiple movies, duplicated in different folder paths in Kodi. Trakt.tv site has the Movie marked as Watched, but when I sync with this Trakt add-on, only 1 of each duplicated movie gets the Watched Status.

Someone can PLEASE explain to me WHY keep two or more types of movies with different resolutions and/or versions (uncut and cut as example)? Why not keep the BEST version (the better resolution with the better uncut version)? This is somenthing I REALLY don't understand.

vc4u commented 6 years ago

I think there really is a clear case here, we can have multiple if they are in different languages (english and non-english).

There can be different resolutions as well, to support deliverability of media on streaming. I find streaming HD content to my devices put a lot of power consumption need and sometimes it's faster to stream a non-HD stream in those situations.

joaosagrath commented 6 years ago

Well, Now i'm starting to understand the reasons. Thanks for explain!

This still seems to be an issue and for me is both for Movies and for TV shows. Is this still being looked into or is this intended?
