[BUG] Movies and TV Shows not getting marked as watched in Trakt; Trakt rating pop-up not showing up #598

Hi,

I've been using the Trakt addon for Kodi since a long time. Thanks for this great Kodi addon!

Recently I've noticed that Movies and TV Shows have stopped getting marked as watched in Trakt after the playback ends. The Trakt Rating pop-up also doesn't show up after the video ends. I've been using it to scrobble local files, as well as for strm files in other 3rd party addons. The scrobbling starts fine. However, it appears that Trakt is not receiving any Stop command once the playback ends. I received a couple of Trakt errors, one of them is error 429 (Rate limit exceeded). It seems that Trakt is limiting the API calls from Kodi.

The issue mainly happens when a video is played from start to end without stopping, rewinding, or forwarding it in the middle. Smaller length videos having less than 10 mins of duration are sometimes getting marked as watched and sometimes doesn't. However, videos of runtime more than 10 mins are usually not getting marked as watched at all. I checked on multiple Trakt accounts, but that didn't work too.

Sometimes the video gets marked as watched in Trakt after 15 mins or so, once the playback ends.

I've tried reauthorizing Trakt, setting startup delay and scrobble start delay as 3, but those didn't work too. I'm also receiving errors like "Connection reset by peer", "Read timed out", etc. However, nothing is wrong with my internet connection as well. I'm now out of all ideas about how to resolve these issues. Could you please advise?

Here's my recent Kodi log (scrobbled using Kodi Trakt addon):

Here's my old Kodi log (scrobbled using 3rd party Kodi addon):

Environment

OS: Android 11 Kodi Version 19.4 Device: Nvidia Shield TV Pro

I'm really hoping that you can help. Thanks in advance!

Thanks and Regards, ShibajiCh.

Not sure, what can cause a connection reset and that's the only error the log shows. If anybody can help there it's the trakt support.

Otherwise, you might want to enable detailed logging https://github.com/trakt/script.trakt#creating-logfiles

Hi @razzeee,

Thanks for the quick response! I've already enabled Debug logging in the Trakt Kodi addon and then generated the log file.

Thanks and Regards, ShibajiCh.

razzeee commented 2 years ago

You also need to set kodi itself to debug logging

AakashC2020 commented 2 years ago

Hi @razzeee,

As per your instructions I've enabled both Kodi debugging and Trakt addon debugging, and generated the below log:

Kindly check and advise.

I don't think it's anything in trakt. Seems to be something general with your network/routing, as other websites seem unhappy too connection reset by peer. Can you try a different wifi/endpoint?

AakashC2020 commented 2 years ago

Hi @razzeee,

I'm not connected to Wifi. I'm using a LAN cable directly connected to the router. I'm not facing any issues apart from mark as watched after Trakt scrobbling. I tried all kinds of troubleshooting. I don't have any other internet or router to test. I'm really not sure what's the issue. Any suggestions?

Thanks and Regards, ShibajiCh.

If your lucky, the trakt people will know and have a log, why your connection failed, but I would be surprised.

Well your log shows other errors, so you should have more problems then just trakt integration.

Hi @razzeee,

Thanks! I've not noticed any other issues till now, but I'm not sure what might be going on in the background. So what do you advise? Will you take this up with the Trakt people? Kindly let me know.

Thanks and Regards, ShibajiCh.

razzeee commented 2 years ago

you will have to contact trakt support on your own, I don't want to get involved in that and I don't want to know usernames etc due to privacy

Thanks @razzeee ! I'll see what I can do. Thanks for all your help!

Thanks and Regards, ShibajiCh.

any fix? this bug is as old as Kodi 19

razzeee commented 2 years ago

For what, what bug? You didn't post a log. It's working fine for me on kodi 20 and it seemed fine on my 19 test installations (but those are on linux)

Movies are not marked as watched when watching them through UPNP.

It must work fine for you because you're watching local files.

razzeee commented 2 years ago

local as in from a NAS, yes. not via UPNP.
